INSTRUCTIONS
Task 1: Research Implementation – Draft Dissertation
At this stage, students will begin to put together relevant primary and secondary data to form an analysis, discussion, and conclusion revolving around their research problem. This is where the draft of the dissertation is the outcome.
Students are to utilize primary and secondary data to write an in-depth evaluation, no less than 7000 words, that critically analyses and discusses their research problem and arrives at a conclusion.
Here's my outcome of the draft dissertation.
FEEDBACK
WEEK 1
Students have to understand the outcome that they came out with from the critical review assignment from the previous semester. If you do not remember the articles you reviewed, refer back to your Mendeley. Rather than being too loose, add it from your proposal from the previous semester. See if you can compare and contrast them. You can also reflect on whether you have the right citation or not. Within this one month, you have to collect all the data that is missing from the last semester.
WEEK 2
Take responsibility for your tasks and try to meet the interim deadlines of each section. For the literature review, it is a must to understand what you have read and reviewed. Go through your Mendeley to minimize going through the documents again. Everything in the literature review has to make sense. You have to be critical and serious while doing the task.
WEEK 3
No class
WEEK 4
Dr. Hayati mentioned to all students to take a look at the grammar that is being used in the draft dissertation. Make sure to stay consistent with grammar for the rest of the writing. Do not create a confusing sentence. Students also need to add figures, especially in section 4 because there might be a lot of findings from the research like the survey results.Take responsibility for your tasks and try to meet the interim deadlines of each section. WEEK 5
Dr. Hayati asked to look through section one. Revisit section one and try to revise and rephrase some of the writing we had done in the research proposal from last semester. We have to be very objective while doing the discussion.
WEEK 6
Students will have to formalize the rationale from the research proposal into a background of the study and also, the problem statement as it will position the significance of the study as well.
WEEK 7
Dr. Hayati gave me some examples of the research conceptual framework and asked me to relate them to my work so that I have a picture of what to do for my conceptual framework.
REFLECTIONS
Starting this module with this task is a bit exhausting. I mean, we are only in semester 3, but we already have to come out with a dissertation. Even though the timeframe for this task took longer than the other one, I feel like I still need more time to finish this thing. It's not a task that you can finish in one or three nights. We have to keep on pace with the given timeframe in order to finish the task on time. However, I couldn't keep on pace since I had some internal problems to do in real life, not just uni tasks; nevertheless, I finally can finish this draft dissertation with relief.
