Project 1: Instructable Poster
For this continuous project, students were told to create an instructable poster, followed by the animated version of it. This infographic poster presents a recipe selected from Pasta Grannies Youtube. Before we start doing this project, we were given time to choose our granny and later study that video. We also need to break down and chunk the preparation and cooking process into an instructable poster.
At first, I chose the video with a granny called Rina, which shows her making baked spinach, with ham and cheese pasta rolls called capriccio. However, after a long consideration, I decided to change to another granny. And finally, I found an interesting video of Granny Isolina cooking Taggiaen, pasta with basil pesto and potato.

I also looked for the poster style references given by Ms Anis, and chose my 2 most favorite posters.

After studying the video for few times, I finally get to understand the whole process. So, next I began to break down and chunk the processes. Here's my project breakdown and rough sketches. (*I wrote the recipe in my local language)

Next, I proceed to make the poster in Adobe Illustrator. Before making the assets, I went to Google to search for references.

Moving on to the poster making process, the first thing I did was drawing the assets. Some of them were traced by me using the reference I found.

After having all assets and elements together, I started grouping them and arranged them according to the recipe process.

Animated Instructable Poster
After finishing the still instructable poster, I began to move those assets into a new project file with the animation video size and rearranged them. And then, I proceed to work on the animated poster in After Effects.

REFLECTIONS
Through this continuous project, I really learnt a lot of new things. I got to hone my chunking and brainstorming skills, and also animating skill. This project was really exciting and I had so much fun on the whole process, from the beginning to the end. It makes me realize that before this, I had never tried chunking things like this. Actually, doing the chunking and break down was the most challenging part of this project because I have to think so hard to convert the things in video into a recipe poster. However, other than challenging, I think it was really fun being a part of this project.
